Matthew Wales

Matt began his fire career as a volunteer firefighter with the Eldridge Fire Department in June 1994. He graduated from the Santa Rosa Junior College Fire Academy in February 1995 and in June of 2005 received his associate’s degree in fire science. While with Eldridge FD, he received his state certified Firefighter I in 1997.

Matt entered the fire administration technology program at CSULA in 1998 and was hired as a full-time firefighter for the Eldridge Fire Department in 2000. During this time, he received his Firefighter II certification. Wales attended medic school at Mendocino College and became a paramedic in 2007. He also worked part-time with Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue Authority as an EMT and paramedic.

Currently, Matt is working to finish his bachelor’s degree in fire administration technology from CSULA and his fire officer certification through the California State fire marshal program.
